About
East London Golf Club was established in 1893 making it one of the oldest golf clubs in South Africa.
A traditional course layout set amongst hills, dunes and coastal indigenous bush, the ELGC has a combination of both links and parkland features. The course is also home to a family of Nyala, impala and the Knysna Loerie and other species of bird life.
Regarded by all as a course every golfer should play, this delightful playing experience is set on fairways steeped in tradition. Many of history’s top golfing champions have walked the fairways and played in South Africa’s premier tournaments.
The Club and course have played host to the SA Open Championship on 6 occasions, the Africa Open Golf Challenge on 7 occasions and many Seniors and Nomads National events. It is also the perfect venue for touring groups and corporate/charity golf days.
The course has undergone a number of changes over the last 10 or so years and more recently, the decision to overseed the greens with Bent grass has been very successful. This, along with the layout and spectacular views overlooking the Indian Ocean have ensured that the ELGC has maintained a position of high recognition as one of the Top 20 golf courses in South Africa (currently ranked 10), providing a memorable golfing experience for all.
After golf, you can enjoy a drink and something to eat in our Golfers’ Lounge which overlooks the 18th green.
We invite you to visit the Club to see for yourself.
